You can import masks to map out where you want your edges to be. The edge detection drop-down is the most powerful part of the Arnold toon shader in my opinion. Play with the multiply attribute in your texture node (or run through a gradient node) to adjust how the edge detection gets applied. It can create realistic-looking materials. I created some masks from the JSplacement application. Try using C4D noises for a more organic feel. It’s fun to try out different textures and settings to see what you can make with it. The edge detection drop-down is the most powerful part of the Arnold toon shader in my opinion, because it provides so much customizability for the silhouette and contour lines.
